• Fort Worth Area Tree Services: Stump Grinding •
After a tree is taken down, it is recommended to remove the remaining stump.
Stumps are a dangerous liability for people to trip over; and provide a place a breeding place for insects. Stumps are also unsightly and a major lawn mowing obstacle.
★ Tree stump grinding is a less expensive and faster option than complete tree stump removal.
★ It is always best to hire stump grinding professionals: Harrod’s Arbor Tech professionals know the correct techniques for tree stump grinding.
★ With stump grinding – there is no large hole to fill at the end of the stump grinding process; and no worries about ground settling in the removal area.
Tree Stump Grinding or Tree Stump Removal: What’s the Difference?
For saving money, time and your surrounding landscape elements – we recommend choosing stump grinding whenever possible.
Tree Stump Grinding means the stump is ground down to about six inches below the surface of the earth (which prevents insert infestations). The remaining roots dissolve into the ground. Grinding a tree stump leaves a wood chip mulch to fill the hole or use elsewhere in your landscaping. Our tree stump grinding machine has rotating cutting disks to chip away the stump at a very high speed. A stump grinder is a smaller piece of equipment than the machinery used for tree stump removal and causes minimal damage to the surrounding lawn and landscaping.
Tree Stump Complete Removal means removing the visible stump and all connecting roots underground. This process involves loosening the soil in a wide area around the stump – because most tree root balls are approximately 5-10 times the size of the tree. Then the stump must be pulled from the ground using heavy equipment. This process tears up landscaping in a wide surrounding area. Complete tree stump removal also creates a large hole. The filled tree removal area will require monitoring ongoing for issues of sinking below ground level.
Call Harrod’s Arbor Tech to Prevent Tree Storm Damage
To prevent tree storm damage – all dead branches should be removed as soon as possible.
If a tree has growth that is scraping the roof or near the roof – the overhang needs to be removed.
Also, trees with uneven growth near houses or other structures should be trimmed to even the tree weight distribution.
We recommend pruning trees damaged by storms or vandalism as soon as possible.
Dead limbs and branches also need to be removed. Removing dead and severely damaged branches prevent insect and disease problems that can develop if damaged branches are left in place.

The Fort Worth area of North Central Texas is in ‘Tornado Alley‘. Tornado Alley is a nickname given to our area in the southern plains of the central United States that consistently experiences a high frequency of tornadoes each year.
Tornadoes in the Fort Worth area typically happen in spring. Tornadoes can also occur in September or October.
A storm can leave trees looking hopeless. Major limbs may be broken or damaged, foliage can be shredded or stripped; or the bark may be torn or gouged. But what at first glance may look like mortal wounds are not necessarily fatal to a tree. Trees have an amazing ability to recover from storm damage.
At Harrod’s Arbor Tech – our specialty is saving sick or damaged trees! Call us immediately to evaluate storm damaged trees.
